C. & N.W. R.R., wiper worker at the roundhouse, Clinton, Iowa. Mrs. Dorothy Lucke is photographed by Jack Delano in April of 1943 on 4x5 color transparency film for the FSA. Wipers, railroad workers that cleaned large steam engines of the day, were jobs usually held by men but during WWII women go the chance to do jobs traditionally held by men.
