Dr. Alex Booth has been on quite a journey the first 91 years of his life. Growing up in Kenova, West Virginia, Alex was used to hard work at his family's business, a summer resort called Dreamland, which included the largest swimming pool east of the Mississippi in 1925. Often exhorted by his father, 'Walk faster, Alex!' this contributed to Alex becoming a lifelong workaholic. Alex's childhood would include two other events that would influence him the rest of his life: a murder-suicide in the family at age 10, and a daily prayer that his great-grandmother made regarding Alex's future. As a young adult, his education would be cut short by his father's heart attack. This would force him to earn a four-year degree in only one year at the University of Chicago, where he would earn straight A's, then return home to learn the family's coal business. After that, Alex used his remarkable abilities to turn the $300,000 coal business into a multimillion dollar corporation, using much of that wealth to benefit others, especially on the continent of Africa. This book also includes a wonderful love story involving Alex and his beloved wife Katherine, a love story that began with a surprise phone call at a low point in Alex's life and continues today. People who have read the book have found it to be a humorous and compelling story that is impossible to put down!
