In the late 20th century, Kelsey Murphy, Bob Bomkamp, and a team of gifted artisans at Pilgrim Glass embarked on the most daring experiment in the 2,000-year history of cameo glass. They achieved the impossible by creating magnificent multilayered cameo glass pieces-some comprising up to 12 layers. They created the best cameo ever made.
More importantly, these magnificent works of art were produced in the city of Huntington, West Virginia. Many of the pieces capture the beauty of the hills, valleys, and wildlife of one of the most beautiful states in America.
The objects in this book were collected by Dr. Joseph B. Touma, MD, and were donated to several museums and Marshall University's Drinko Library in tribute to the hard work and superb artistic achievement of Kelsey and her team at Pilgrim. Visitors to these institutions will have the opportunity to marvel at the creativity and uniqueness of cameo glass for generations to come.
